Crime Prevention Programs
Cops and Kids
Deputy Larry Handy's 1976 Chevy Camaro is used in a "Cops and Kids" program. The goals of the program are to educate young people
about the real problems of illegal drug and alcohol use, and also promote a better understanding between the law enforcement officers and
the community they serve.
A race car, dressed up like a police pursuit vehicle, is used as a catalyst to help at-risk youth in the community. The car is used in
programs at local schools and community centers throughout Forsyth County. Youth experience proactive law enforcement as opposed to reactive
enforcement.
This program receives no outside funding, and all costs of operating the car are solely the responsibility of the car's owner.
