Found, Seized & Stolen Property
You may recover found or seized property by appointment each weekday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
on the 2nd floor (main entrance) of the Sheriff’s Office Administration Building located at 120 West Third Street in downtown Winston-Salem.
Please contact Joe Cockman in Property Control (917-7004) at least 24 hours before you plan to pick up your
property. He will schedule your appointment time. You must bring a picture I.D. to collect
any type of property. You must be able to identify property using serial number, owner applied number or identify distinctive
markings.
To recover stolen property, please contact the Detective that is assigned to your specific case.
NOTE:
- Property that is being used in a court case can not be released until the case has a disposition and is no longer needed.
- If you are picking up a weapon, you must bring an original court order.
- Vehicles can not be returned without a court order or Vehicle Release Authorization from seizing officer.
- Property Control must have a Property Release Authorization from seizing officer before any property can be released,
Property sales for unclaimed property are held yearly. The 2005 sale will be held sometime in September or October.
The sale date will be posted when available. All proceeds from the property sales go to the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County
School System.
