Kernersville distributes Spotted Lanternfly traps

Kernersville is building an army to wage war on the Spotted Lanternfly. The Town of Kernersville partnered with Mid-Atlantic Roofing Supply to provide kits to residents called Lampshade Traps.

When installed, the traps provide a place for the spotted lanternflies to lay their eggs, allowing property owners to locate and destroy them. Each female spotted lanternfly can lay up to 100 eggs. Forsyth County Cooperative Extension staff assisted in this effort (pictured is Extension Agent Rebecca Craps).

If you did not get a free trap, you can purchase the supplies on your own and build the trap following these instructions on the town of Kernersville website.
