Deputy Jones has consistently gone above and beyond in his support of the Forsyth County Explorers Program. Demonstrating exceptional dedication, he personally purchased essential items—including gloves, hats, reflective vests, and Velcro belts—for every Explorer to ensure they were fully prepared for Survival Weekend at Camp Cherokee. In addition, Deputy Jones took the initiative to create a standardized packet of updated forms for each Explorer, streamlining the program’s organization and improving overall efficiency. His commitment, generosity, and leadership have made a meaningful and lasting impact on the program and its participants.

On November 13th, 2025 at approximately 1320 hours, the patrol division responded to the 4500 block of Reidsville Road to the report of a man down. A construction crew on Reidsville Road had located a subject in the ditch off the roadway. Once patrol units arrived, they determined the subject was deceased and subsequently contacted the Criminal Investigations Section, and several detectives responded to the scene. It appeared the decedent was struck by a passing motorist on Reidsville Road. The decedent was later determined to be a runaway from the Winston-Salem Police Department. This investigation was extremely unique as we, in the Criminal Investigations Section, are not particularly adept at working motor vehicle collisions, let alone motor vehicle fatalities. Inv. Stephens, at the time, was in attendance at in-service training, and upon calling him about the above-mentioned case, he responded without delay. Upon arrival at the scene, Inv. Stephens was informed that he was going to be the primary investigator and was briefed on the information obtained already. To add to the unfamiliar investigation, Inv. Stephens had to navigate working with both the NCSHP as well as WSPD, as each agency had a role in the case. Inv. Stephens showed his knowledge, experience, and resiliency in how he handled this case, and subsequently, the vehicle and driver were identified in a very short time. Investigator Stephens is the November Sworn Staff Member of the Month for his unwavering pursuit of justice and dedication to ensuring the safety of the citizens of Forsyth County.

Deputy Kerek McHam is selected as the November Staff Member of the Month due to his going above and beyond in finding a loaded firearm on the campus of North Forsyth High School. On Monday, November 10, 2025, Deputy Mcham intercepted a video from a social media platform, Instagram, depicting approximately four juvenile students from North Forsyth High School passing around a firearm in a vehicle. From the video, Deputy McHam was able to identify the location as the student parking lot of North Forsyth High School. After investigation, it was determined that the firearm was brought onto campus by one of the students in the video, who was charged with numerous charges to include felony possession of a firearm on an educational campus, carrying concealed, and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Deputy McHam goes above and beyond his duties as a School Resource Officer and Deputy Sheriff with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy McHam monitors social media and other platforms to stay ahead of any potential danger to his school and any other schools within Forsyth County. Due to Deputy McHam's due diligence and persistence in monitoring activities within his school, Deputy McHam was able to identify a dangerous weapon on his school campus. It is unclear of the intentions of the student who brought the gun on campus, but Deputy McHam stopped a potential act of violence on a school campus due to his compassion for his duties and going above and beyond. I would like to recognize Deputy McHam for a job well done for keeping the students and staff safe at North Forsyth High School. The administration and staff at North Forsyth High School are grateful for Deputy McHam's actions as well and are happy to have Deputy McHam as their School Resource Officer.
