Synopsis and Discussion
The cool air wedge remains firmly entrenched across the northern piedmont as of early afternoon on Sunday, promoting low Code Green AQI readings. The wedge air mass is expected to finally be scoured out with generally southerly flow returning and increasing dew points. High temperatures will also rebound into the 80s over the next few days. Because the weather will remain unsettled, ozone readings are expected to stay in the Code Green range through Wednesday. Particle pollution readings are noticeably higher to the south of the wedge front so as this air mass begins to stream in, particle pollution readings are expected to increase to the upper Code Green range.
